I wanted to share a little insight that I’ve had regarding some of the national news that’s been going on around the Google phishing scam.
The continuing barrage of fear centered around identity theft and cyber attacks.
All that fun stuff that we, as a society, must deal with as we become more reliant upon the digital age we are living in. The evolution of computers, internet, and everything else that makes our life easier- we have to be more cognizant of people, systems, software, and viruses attacking our data to steal our information.
It got me to thinking…
Our society is just in absolute chaos.
As a majority, we are operating out of complete fear, scarcity, anger, and resentment. From that, products and software are being created for one of two reasons: to protect us or to enhance our fear. In this specific case, a system has been created to attempt to steal others’ identity. They are working hard to create systems, create software, techniques, and strategies to lie, to cheat, to steal, to deceive people who are working hard and busting their asses to make a living. They are finding a way to go in and steal other’s assets, credit cards, and bank information. And for what? To take, take, take, and maybe get fulfillment for themselves. Just out of selfish need and scarcity.
Okay, so we have this energy of creation within us. Right? We all have it. We all have a choice in which direction that energy goes. Are we going to use it for good? Are we going to apply it for good? To create abundance, to create positivity? Or are we going to put that towards a selfish, dark side of us that’s going to be created out of scarcity, out of fear, out of anger, out of resentment? All used for selfish gain. To take out of fear rather than receive from providing.
Here’s the thing.
Given the specifics of this phishing scam, I imagine these are highly intelligent people. They are creating a system to deceive. In this specific example, they are creating a Google page that looks just like your gmail account sign in. The creators of this are already putting in the work and effort. They’re already putting in the energy and applying it to go out and deceive the masses. To steal. Now, what if they took that same energy and applied that same amount of work and found a way to create a system or a software or a service to create abundance that benefited the masses? It’s an interesting thought to see if people would do that. Think of what that would create. Not only for themselves, but for us as a society as a whole.
What’s my point in this?
Obviously, number one, we assume we’re all flawed, right? We all have pain, we’ve all had things happen in our lives. We use that as our story as we go out and live our daily life. Then we create an energy within us and choose what to do with that energy. We apply it to whatever it is that we’re doing and create effect in our lives. It can be with personal relationships, jobs, or friendships. You name it. There’s just a long line about how the energy within us, the story we tell ourselves and what we choose to create with that, affects everything outside of us.
Enough with the rant.
How does this apply to selling your house?
Well, here’s the thing. When you are considering selling your house, going with an investment company to purchase it is a great option. A lot of them offer a quick close, offering the same terms … “We can close in 7 to 10 days. We buy houses in as-is condition. No repairs, no fees, no commissions. We’ll even cover your closing costs.” All of those phrases are kind of a rounded staple that you see on advertisements any time you do that search.
How do you know it’s not a scam? How do you know it’s not somebody behind the scenes trying to take you?
What I will tell you is this. I do know that a large percentage of those advertisements that you see about people posting or advertising, “We buy houses,” have limited experience or even no experience at all. When I say no experience…. they have probably never purchased a property.
Ever.
A lot of them have probably never done a transaction.
They have no prior real estate experience.
That’s just the facts.
I’ve been in this industry long enough to know that it is just the rule of thumb. How do you know what to look for when you want to sell your property? And if you want to sell it quick? Maybe because you’re going through a divorce, or you’re going into foreclosure, or you just need to sell quick because you don’t want to deal with the property anymore. You don’t want to deal with a realtor, paying fees and commissions, and all the things that come along with it. Strangers and their children running through every room in your house. Whatever your story is or whatever your reasons are, they’re all true.
You want a quick, fast solution.
How do you know that the company that you’re searching, this “we buy houses” company is legit and has substance? I’ll give you a few tips and a few questions that you can ask when you are seeking this option.
One: Simple. How long have they been in business?
Two: How many transactions did they do in 2016? How active were they? Do they have any documentation of satisfied or previous customers? Written or video testimonials?

Do they have documentation showing their satisfied clients and that they followed through on what they said that they were going to do?
Three: Can they provide you with a list of references? Outside of clients and customers, do they have people in the industry that can attest to their character and know who they are, what they stand for? That could be realtors. That can be business owners. That can be title companies. It’s a lot of things, yes, but they should provide you with a list of references and document that. If they can’t do that in a timely and professional manner, then that should raise some red flags.
